It is done. Yesterday afternoon we sent the high-res digital files to the printer, and the Kickstarter backers received their digital editions (Backers if you haven’t yet go here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mgoblog/hail-to-the-victors-2017/posts/1913243. Maybe clear the weekend first.)

We’ve been getting a bunch of questions about it so I thought a FAQ would help.

Which coach did Ace call a…?

Not that question.

What is this?TOC

bick the clicture to pake it mig

We put out an annual 128-page preview and feature magazine. The first section is by Brian and previews the 2017 team. The second section is by Ace (wsg Ross Fulton of Buckeyegrove.com) and previews each opponent, or in MSU’s case goes on for 2-1/2 pages with a beat-by-beat account of the program’s erosion with a little bit about a few guys we think might still be on the team by fall…maybe.

The rest are features by the best authors we can dragoon. Adam profiled Mo Hurst and talked to the ’97 team. I went over Don Brown’s hybrids and specialists, and how they’re used. Ian Boyd drew up the Speight offense. Michael Elkon (Braves & Birds) compares this year’s team to other Top 10 outfits that lost everybody. Alex Cook talks about M’s long term future in the B1G East. Dr. Sap met everybody who had anything to do with Touchdown Billy Taylor’s touchdown. Greg Dooley told the tale of Tall Paul Goebel. Craig Ross delved into Michigan football’s dark years.

I missed the Kickstarter can I get a copy?

Why yes. Right now you can pre-order it from the MGoStore. It will also be available in all Underground Printing stores, and a few others—I’ll announce when another store will carry it. If you want to be helpful, go into places you think should have it (like the bookstores at the airport) and ask why they don’t have it…nicely.

We also made the digital edition available from our store. Technically that’s a pre-order too because we’re getting that download set up as I type.

And I’ve just started to put together an e-book edition for Kindle and perhaps iBooks if I can figure out their system in time. That should be available in early July.

I missed the Kickstarter, can I get in on it still or get that sweet Italy shirt?

Sorry once a Kickstarter has closed we can’t have more contributions. The shirt was to entice people to support the Kickstarter so if we do ever make it available to the public it’ll be much later.

Also the Kickstarter backers got a deal for faster shipping from my friend Matt.

You meant the HomeSure Lending guy? What’s he have to do with it?

For the second straight year, Homesure Lending sponsored a shipping upgrade from third class to first class. This means books should arrive days after shipping instead of weeks and allows us to keep shipping charges low.

Also he’s got some major things going to make his personal tailgate the best in town.

Speaking of shipping, where’s my stuff?

Better brace for the [THE JUMP]

I said WHERE’S MY STUFF?

Abraham May (@Smoothitron) designed this year’s shirt. How he only has <500 followers I have no idea.

Yes it depends what you’re getting.

  • ONE book from the Kickstarter: We’re still collecting addresses, so make sure you filled out that Kickstarter survey that they keep bothering you about. We were 2 weeks later getting the book out than normal (for reasons I can’t share but shouldn’t affect us again in the future) so expect these to start arriving mid-July-ish. There’s a huge stack of books that have to get physically labeled and stuffed into envelopes, so some take longer than others as they work through the pile.
  • TWO books from the Kickstarter: Same as above though we asked for 2-book orders to be handled first.
  • TEN books from the Kickstarter: Ditto.
  • A SIGNED book from the Kickstarter: When we get the books (ETA 1st/2nd week of July) it’ll take some time to get them signed and back in the mail. Expect it in August.
  • A SHIRT & TWO BOOKS from the Kickstarter. Your shirts are going separately. All but 20 of you have filled out POGO carts. If you got an EXPEDITED shirt it’ll be in the mail by 6/29—we’ll start printing those early next week. If you chose a different shirt or were too late for the expedited option those will mail out on July 13th. If you’re among that 20 who haven’t filled out your carts, you got an email from me an hour ago with instructions.
  • For your books see TWO Books from the Kickstarter above. Note: Your books are coming from the printer, not with your shirts.
  • A Book from the Pre-Order off the MGoStore: These will mail out after the big shipment arrives in our warehouse in Ann Arbor, eta mid-July.
  • The electronic (PDF) edition from the MGoStore: Today. Email me with your receipt if you don’t get your book after a day.

I found a typo in the book.

No you didn’t.

Dude…

Send it to me so I can spend the rest of my life regretting it. Hopefully it’s in one of Ace’s articles because he’ll beat himself up over it even more than I will.

Why can’t I send my 2 books to 2 different addresses? We could in the past.

There’s no good way for us to automate that. We tried doing it for a few years and it became a massive time bandit for me and a major vulnerability in our system of avoiding shipping errors. Sorry. I agree that this feels like something that should be easier and deserve whatever angry frustration emails you send my way.

What if there’s a mistake in my order?

If you’re talking about a POGO cart (for your t-shirt) email me right away. If it’s on Kickstarter you can still change your address on there until the 23rd.

I haven’t gotten any emails from Kickstarter

Go to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mgoblog/hail-to-the-victors-2017 and log in and they’ll tell you if there’s any action you need to take UNLESS you already ordered your shirt and have a confirmation email from POGO in which case you’re good.

Eighty percent of the time it’s because you used an email address you never check or your spam filters are set to not trust anyone you haven’t emailed before (@comcast.net email addresses tend to get Kickstarter emails sorted out as Spam more than most).

Other common occurrences are an expired credit card (you’ll just have to update that) or you never finished filling out your Kickstarter form.
