ANYWAY

Four-star Detroit King WR Donnie Corley will be a senior in high school this fall, so it's somewhat reasonable to discuss him in this forum, unlike whatever's going on above. Corley, arguably the top 2016 in-state prospect, has Michigan outside his top five; the coaches will get the opportunity to work on that when he visits for tomorrow's MSU game, per 247's Steve Lorenz ($).

Corley won't be the only top in-state player in attendance. Four-star Cass Tech OG Michael Onwenu, who just added an Alabama offer, will also visit tomorrow, per Scout's Allen Trieu ($). While he didn't give a date, three-star Cass Tech S Demetric Vance also told Trieu he plans to visit Michigan this summer ($). Vance recently received offers from Tennessee and Michigan State; it wouldn't be a big surprise to see Michigan follow suit.

New Offers: Eyes On Texas

From 247's Brian Perroni:

New Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh had previously offered a few players but gave ones this week to McKinney North defensive end Justin Madubuike, Allen defensive end Levi Onwuzurike, Allen cornerback Jaylon Jones, Manvel offensive lineman Austin Myers and Killeen Shoemaker defensive end Rahssan Thornton.

Madubuike is the highest-ranked among the five, sitting just outside the composite top 100; he'll be hard to pull out of Texas. Onwuzurike and Jones are both four-star prospects. Myers is building an offer list that suggests he'll earn a bump from his three-star ranking, while Thornton is still early in the process—Michigan and Cal are his first two offers.

Michigan also continued to hit California, offering four-star Mater Dei OLB Curtis Robinson, who told Scout's David Woods that Harbaugh is a significant draw ($):

“I mean, I always knew Michigan,” Robinson said. “Even without Harbaugh, it’s Michigan, with all the great players behind it. With Harbaugh there, it obviously catches my attention. I mean, it’s Jim Harbaugh. It’s definitely going to be cool to get that relationship started.”

That said, Robinson holds a USC offer, his mom works at UCLA, and he a Stanford offer is the one he most covets among schools that haven't shown interest; extracting him from California will be a tall order.

The Wolverines offered a couple top 2017 prospects. CA CB Darnay Holmes, who already holds offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Ohio State, and USC, told The Wolverine's Tim Sullivan that Michigan should be in the mix ($):

"Michigan is definitely right there; they'll always be a competitor," he said. "They have a great program that's going to rise. They're bigtime in the Big Ten. I haven't really followed them over the years, but I know they hired Harbaugh, so that's a big deal."

He added that he'd like to visit campus at some point. Also pulling in an early offer was FL WR Juwan Burgess, adding to a list that includes Clemson, FSU, and Ohio State; he told GBW's Josh Newkirk about the offer ($):

“My head coach introduced me to [Coach Durkin],” Burgess said. “He had seen my highlight and was very interested in me. I received the offer when they stopped by. I was just surprised. I couldn’t believe it. It was a special moment.”

While Burgess admitted he doesn't know a lot about the program, he said he wants to visit.

More 2016 News

Four-star CA WR Theo Howard, one of Michigan's top targets in the 2016 class, told 247's Steve Lorenz that he'll visit for the Spring Game ($).

That could turn into a big visit weekend. Another top target, four-star TX LB Dontavious Jackson, told Lorenz he's looking at flights to visit for the Spring Game($) along with his teammate, three-star S Chris Brown. Both players hold offers.

Another linebacker target, VA four-star Jaquan Yulee, told 247's JC Shurburtt that Michigan is in his top group($) along with Clemson, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech. Notably, Michigan is the only program in that group that hasn't offered yet. EDIT: My mistake, Michigan offered him last week.

It's a similar case with four-star TX DT Chris Daniels, who grew up in Muskegon and told GBW's Sam Webb that Michigan is third in his recruitment behind TCU and Baylor ($). Both Texas schools, along with several other powers, have offered; Michigan's new staff has had minimal contact.

Three-star TX RB Trayveon Williams is also hoping for a Michigan offer; he told GBW's Josh Newkirk that it would be "a dream offer," and would put M among his top schools ($). Williams already has offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and TCU, among others.
